Parent & Me: Mindfulness with Mandalas

Class | Available

Make art and memories as a parent and child during this fun workshop! Join OAC art teacher and Education Director, Andrea Heinz, and create art that helps promote mindfulness!  Learn about mandalas and their multi-cultural importance from a variety of places around the world.

Learn how to use symmetry, line, shape, and repetition to create your own unique mandalas.  Participants will have time to practice skills, create a practice mandala and start a final mandala design. This workshop is designed for a parent and their child to bond over their art-making process and to have some special time together sharing their creativity. Parents- come prepared to make art too! This is not just for kids! (Appropriate for children
6 years and older, and parents of any age.)

Mandalas promote mindfulness, and are fun to create from scratch!  Coloring mandalas focuses your attention on a repetitive, creative task that quiets an overactive mind. All supplies are provided.

Parents, please register yourself and your child separately on our online registration platform. The course fee is $10 per individual. This course is designed for a parent and their child to both create art- please only register if you are attending as a parent and a child.

If you are interested in taking this workshop, but have transportation or financial barriers in order to attend, please contact Andrea Heinz at andrea@oliverart.org or 231-352-4151 x107 about accessibility options that we can offer to you.
