In honor of National Poetry Month in April 2027, the Benzie Area Historical Society and the Oliver Art Center proudly invite the public to participate in the Fifth Annual ARTiFACTORY 2027.

Join us for a FREE workshop to help you create an original art entry for our ARTiFACTORY poetry and art event. After exploring the Benzie Area Historical Museum to find an artifact that inspires you, bring your ideas and favorite art supplies (or use some of ours) and create an original piece of art in response. Art can be created in conjunction with a poem entry, or entered as a stand-alone piece.

Age 14+, all levels.

ARTiFACTORY is a collaboration between the Oliver Art Center and the Benzie Area Historical Society held each year in April, in honor of National Poetry Month. The community is invited to participate in a poetry workshop and create an original poem inspired by an historic artifact from the Historical Society's collection. Participants are also encouraged to create an original work of art to accompany their poem - or just create one or the other. The event culminates on April 17th with a reading and reception at the Oliver Art Center. The exhibit of poems and art is then displayed at the BAHS for the season. This unique event is open to all ages and all levels.

Submit your completed poems (and/or small artworks) to the Oliver Art Center no later than April 3rd for inclusion in our printed chapbook and public showcase, to be held on April 17th at the OAC.
