Multi-Layer Reduction Printmaking with Hal Papcun

Building on foundational relief printmaking skills, this course introduces the multi-layer reduction printing process. Students will learn to plan and execute complex, multi-color images using a single block carved and printed in successive stages. Instruction emphasizes color sequencing, registration, ink transparency, and irreversible decision-making inherent to the reduction process.
All supplies included.

Hal Papcun
Hal Papcun is a multidisciplinary artist, illustrator, and educator based in Traverse City, Michigan. Known for his intricately detailed prints and illustrations… and the signature hidden snails tucked throughout his work! Hal earned a BFA in Fine Arts Illustration from Northern Michigan University and has been a practicing educator and professional illustrator since 2016. Hal teaches printmaking at Northwestern Michigan College and regularly leads classes and workshops in the region.
