Ceramics Camp: Hand Building Session I - with Amelia Bell

Roll up your sleeves and get tactile in this hand building camp for ages 8 and up! Students will learn the foundational ABCs of clay: pinching, coiling, and slab rolling - to transform raw earth into finished treasures. From crafting functional items to whimsical creations, campers will explore the limitless possibilities of sculpting by hand. Every creator will see their vision through to the end, taking home completed projects of their own design. This camp is offered in July and again in August.
PLEASE NOTE: CAMP RUNS MONDAY/TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY, DOES NOT MEET ON THURSDAY, THEN GLAZING DAY ON FRIDAY

Amelia Bell
A.C. Bell is a North Carolina potter, originally from Chicago, IL. She studied biology in college and spent time working in a veterinary clinic and pursuing a master’s degree in sustainable urban development before discovering pottery in an evening class at a local Chicago neighborhood art center. She fell in love and began taking classes and working as a studio monitor, moving into teaching kids’ classes and introductory classes for adults. In 2021, after going as far as she could taking classes at art centers and craft schools, she moved to North Carolina for the Professional Craft Program at Haywood Community College.
A.C. went on to work as an Assistant and Tech in a variety of studios in Tennessee and North Carolina including Odyssey Clayworks in Asheville. A.C. also served for several years as a teaching artist at Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago, IL.
