Ceramics Camp Sesssion I: Wheel Throwing with Amelia Bell

Camp | Available

Get behind the wheel and let the clay fly!  In this intensive session, young potters will dive into the satisfying process of centering, throwing pots on the wheel, and experimenting with various shapes.  From the initial wedge to the final touch, students will learn the fundamentals of ceramic art and take home their very own glazed, finished projects.  This camp is offered in June and again in August.

PLEASE NOTE:  CAMP RUNS MONDAY/TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY, DOES NOT MEET ON THURSDAY, THEN GLAZING DAY ON FRIDAY

Families that qualify for SNAP benefits may contact gallery@oliverart.org for scholarships.

Amelia Bell

A.C. Bell is a North Carolina potter, originally from Chicago, IL. She studied biology in college and spent time working in a veterinary clinic and pursuing a master’s degree in sustainable urban development before discovering pottery in an evening class at a local Chicago neighborhood art center. She fell in love and began taking classes and working as a studio monitor, moving into teaching kids’ classes and introductory classes for adults. In 2021, after going as far as she could taking classes at art centers and craft schools, she moved to North Carolina for the Professional Craft Program at Haywood Community College.

A.C. went on to work as an Assistant and Tech in a variety of studios in Tennessee and North Carolina including Odyssey Clayworks in Asheville. A.C. also served for several years as a teaching artist at Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago, IL.

A.C. Now resides in Frankfort full-time and joins the OAC as our Ceramics Studio Manager. Learn more and view A.C.’s work at https://www.acbellceramics.com/
