2-Day Drypoint Printmaking Workshop with Andrew Jagniecki

Class | Available

In this 2-day in-depth workshop you will learn how to create intaglio prints using the drypoint technique. Accomplished printmaker Andrew Jagniecki will lead you through the steps of how to plan the print, use a stylus to incise the image on plexiglass plates, and how to pull prints in a variety of colors.  A second day allows for drying and additional study.

All studio supplies are included.  Students should bring 1-2 sketches or photos to work from for class.

All levels welcome, age 18+.

My inspiration often comes from my surrounding environment and the wild nature of West Michigan. I am influenced by those things that are common occurrences in my environment and community, landscapes, landmarks, animals, and people. I enjoy working in many mediums, yet my main focus is printmaking - the process of making multiple originals. My relief prints are predominately woodcuts and linoleum cuts; however, I have recently returned to experimenting with intaglio and mono printing. A current practice is the process of color reduction, as well as using color plate methods. My relief printing is usually performed by hand pulling in the Japanese method with hand tools I have created for the process. I enjoy working directly to the plate during intaglio processes, as well as experimenting with new materials. My hope is that the viewer enjoys my work, as much as I do making it.
