This is a 2-Day Workshop - August 3 & 4 12-4pm
If you’ve ever wanted to try oil painting, but weren’t sure how to get started, or if you have tried it but would like a refresher on the basics, this class is for you! The focus of this workshop will be on color mixing, mark making, mediums, and surfaces.
All levels welcome, age 18+.
Supply List:
Your own Reference Photos - either hard copies or bring an Ipad/Laptop
Disposable Nitrile Gloves
4 Small - Medium sized pre-stretched Canvases (9x12, 12x12, 11x14, etc. up to 16x20, your choice)
Paint - Recommended Colors:
Titanium White
Alizarin Crimson
Ultramarine Blue
Cadmium Yellow Medium
Chromatic Black
*A note regarding paint - this is a suggested starting point. The goal is to at least have a warm and a cool of each of the primary colors, as well as a generous amount of black and white. If you don’t have these exact colors but have warms and cools of each of the primaries, perfect. If you have additional colors, great! Bring them along. I generally prefer to use Gamblin Oil Paint, but please bring what you have on hand.
Solvents, additives:
Gamsol Solvent (8 oz. minimum)
Liquin
Brushes (I tend to use inexpensive soft brushes):
Set of SOFT white nylon FLAT Brushes (Blick Essentials Value Brush Set - Flat Brushes, White Nylon, Set of 12) - variety of shapes (flat, round, fan, filbert, angled, liner - medium sized)
Any other Oil brushes you own or would like to add.
Misc. Recommended Supplies:
Palette Paper 16x20 (or larger) for mixing paint OR Portable Palette
Sketch Book, drawing pencil
2 Glass jars with lids for solvent
