Class | Available
Class Description: Discover the fundamentals of hand-built ceramics in this accessible, fun course designed for adults. Over 4 weeks, students will learn to transform lumps of clay into functional or sculptural pieces using pinch, coil, or slab construction techniques. We’ll explore using slump or press molds, texture and sgraffito techniques, and stamping or die cutting. We will cover essential processes from preparing the clay to surface decorating and applying glazes. The class emphasizes design principles, proper technique for structural integrity, and the basics of the glazing and firing process. Whether you aim to create a beautiful mug, a unique vase, or an abstract sculpture, this course provides a supportive environment to learn the craft, awaken your creativity, and complete finished, fired pieces ready to take home. No prior experience is necessary—just an eagerness to get your hands dirty! All skill levels are welcome. This class runs on Thursdays from 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm every four weeks, allowing for ongoing study all year long - take as many sessions as you like!
