Class Description and Supply List: Visual Note Taking - Sketching Workshop with Margo Burian
Class | Available
Spend a day learning how to interpret the world around us quickly in the form of visual note taking. We’ll focus on turning down the “noise” and learning how to see/distill what’s important visually, and what is simply distraction. Together we’ll discuss what constitutes strong and dynamic compositions.
Visual note taking is a great way for gathering information quickly and is a great practice
for those who are looking to deepen their studio practice, as well as working when time is limited.

Margo Burian
A lifelong artist, Margo Burian currently splits her time between Northern and Southern Michigan. After a 20 year career as a commercial illustrator, she decided in 2007 to focus solely on making the kind of work that she was most interested in, rather than being bound by the constraints of commercial work. Much of her misspent youth was spent in Northern Michigan, where she developed a love for the serenity and beauty of the woods and the "Big Lake". Time and time again, she finds she is still drawn to those places. While she is perhaps best known for her atmospheric oil landscapes celebrating her love of Northern Michigan, she enjoys working in Acrylic, Collage, and Mixed Media. A self-avowed life long learner, as a teacher she brings to her classes enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to meet her students where they’re at on their own artistic path. She has exhibited work in galleries in Traverse City, Harbor Springs, Frankfort, and Grand Rapids, MI.
