Ukrainian Egg Dying
Class | Available
Explore the art of decorating eggs in the Ukrainian traditional method known as Pysanky. The wax-resist process, similar to batik, uses a simple tool to apply beeswax to the shell of a fresh chicken egg, followed by multiple layers of colorful dyes. When the pattern is complete the wax is removed to reveal a beautiful design. Join instructor Brandy Wheeler and discover the magic of creating these small works of art. Learn about the history of this medium and see examples of her eggs.
Supplies: Please bring a clean lonesome sock -with or without holes. All other materials for participating in the class will be provided on-site. Instruction is designed for ages 13+.
