S26-35 The Famous Algonquin Round Table Wits

Class | Registration opens 3/2/2026 9:00 AM EST

Located in the heart of the NYC Theater District is the elegant & famous Algonquin Hotel. While there have been a number of decorative changes over the years of its existence one constant remains: The semicircular nitch containing the original large “Round Table” in the main dining room. It was at that table [1919-1929 and a 2nd collaboration 1930- 1943] that a group of 8-10 of the most intellectual individuals met daily for lunch and repartee. They represented the Arts, Playwrights/the Theater, Movies, the discourse of Politics and Social issues, Writers of many genres, various Literary entities, Critics, etc. The lively discussions were whimsical, witty, pithy, pungent (but never hateful!) and topical. Despite their personal differences the discourse was always friendly! They remain to this day a part of American History. Join us as we discuss these wonderful, witty personages!
