WIRE: 101 BOOT CAMP WEEKEND

INSTRUCTOR: JUDI WILD

If you ever wanted to dip your toe into the world of wire wrapping…to just test the water before jumping in, so to speak…THIS CLASS is for YOU!

In this weekend BOOT CAMP, you will learn to make a couple of bracelets and two to four pairs of earrings. Each project will build your skills to set the stage for the next project. Will you be ready to tackle Wire II? No, but you will come away with several completed projects and to recognize whether you want to dive deeper into wire wrapping.

We will cover the bare-bones basics of wire content, strength, and gauges, as well as a few basic techniques to assist you through BOOT CAMP. I will guide you through the cutting, measuring, and manipulation of the wire to create your projects. Your workbook will have instructions along with several photos, several reference charts, and measuring aids to help streamline your learning process.

You don’t need to bring anything except an eagerness to learn and an open mind. If you use magnification or have an Optivisor®, it would be a great idea to have it in class. Your class fee covers your class use of a wire-wrapping tool kit, as well as all the wire, beads, findings, and the workbook we will use in class.

Just remember, I will be here should you choose to learn more in a week-long class so you can free that dusty collection of cabochons, gemstones, or coins and learn to showcase those beautiful treasures.

Wild, Judi
Judi Wild

Judi, always the consummate crafter and eager to learn new skills, started wire wrapping in 2007. She has attended William Holland twice or more each year to further refine her wire wrapping techniques. Judi has trained with some of the best wire artists at William Holland, and has also studied Chain Maille & Silver. Since 2008, Judi has taught at local bead stores, bead shows, and all-day retreats, as well as providing numerous programs for her local bead society. She is the co-founder and past president of the Greater Birmingham Bead Society and a member of the Alabama Mineral and Lapidary Society. Judi also teaches Polymer Clay I and II. While looking for an alternative activity to wire wrapping and weaving, she absolutely fell in love with the versatility of PC. She is a member of the International Polymer Clay Association, and has organized a PC Group in her hometown to learn and share more about this colorful medium. Judi and her husband, John, a William Holland Cabochon instructor, live in Boaz, AL with a couple of rescue Yorkies who travel well and think they rule the household.
