Class | Available

Micro Mosaic Jewelry I and II

Instructor:  kaska firor

In this workshop beginner students will learn how to use stained glass, ceramic tiles, beads, and tiny objects to create small mosaics using pre-made frames. Students will practice skills for cutting glass and ceramic tiles, then explore techniques for adhering the tiles, and for grouting. The more advanced students will have a choice of continuing their explorations started in Micro Mosaic Jewelry I and working on improving their skill and defining their personal style.  The more advanced students will also have an opportunity to create their own frames and work with more unique shapes. The lab fee covers all the handouts, up to 10 pre-made frames (lots to choose from), all the materials to create the 10 mosaics, as well as use of tools and consumables.  The fee also includes copper to create one custom frame. (Upgrade to silver will be available.) I will be bringing an extensive collection of glass beads of many different shapes, colorful stained glass, charms, glass and stone nuggets, and other items for your use.  There will be a small fee for each additional mosaic students might wish to make.    You can also bring your own materials to create the extra pieces.  I will contact students a few weeks before class with a list of required tools.
