JEWELRY PHOTOGRAPHY: WEEKEND CLASS
INSTRUCTOR: DANIELLE LOMONACO
“A picture is worth a thousand words”
In this weekend class, we will be making lightboxes with a turntable and exploring jewelry photography. I will teach you the tips and tricks I have learned over the last decade while photographing my own work. We will discuss how to apply the principles of color theory to your photography, how to outsmart reflections, incorporating natural objects as props and backgrounds effectively, the use of light and mirrors, and making the most of honest editing. The importance of highlighting the special features of your designs and demonstrating wearability will also be covered. Please bring samples of your work that you would like to photograph. You will leave with a lightbox designed for jewelry photography, beautiful images of your work to share, and the knowledge, skills, and confidence to create captivating images of future jewelry pieces! Please plan to bring any jewelry you would like help photographing and your camera phone to this class. Kits to build your lightbox will cost $100. We will be taking short walks around campus to collect natural objects to use for props and backdrops, and so we can practice photographing with natural light during the “golden hour”. Closed toed shoes are required for all students at William Holland.
