SILVER1.5: INCORPORATING MIXED METALS COMPONENTS WITH STERLING SILVER
INSTRUCTOR: KIM ST. JEAN
In this class we will be using copper, gold filled and jeweler’s brass to embellish sterling silver jewelry. There are tricks to applying metals that flow at different temperatures than silver. There are techniques used to pickle, clean and polish after combining these metals. By the time you leave this class you will have a clear understanding of these processes and be able to use them confidently. We will be using jeweler’s saws, shot plates, design stamps, hydraulic press and hand tools to create these components out of sheet metals and wire. All metals used in this class will be purchased from the instructor at fair market value at the time of class.

Prerequisite: At least one Silver 1 class or working knowledge of using a torch and silver solder to create jewelry.
Kim St. Jean
Kim St. Jean is an award-winning instructor, author, and jewelry designer. Following 10 years as a public school teacher, she has been teaching jewelry classes for over 20 years. Kim has been published in numerous magazines and books. She has appeared on several beading/craft television programs including Jewelry TV and Beads Baubles & Jewels. Kim also has written 3 books and has over 30 instructional DVD’s and on-line courses available. Predominantly at www.wirejewelry.com Kim’s home base is in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she and her husband, Norm, own Studio St. Jean. Kim, Norm, and their son Chase spend much of the year traveling across the country teaching classes at bead shows, jewelry schools, guilds, clubs, studios, and stores.
