SILVER II: LOW TECH CASTING WITH FABRICATION
INSTRUCTOR: KIM ST. JEAN
In this class you will learn how to use casting grains and sterling silver scrap to create new unique pieces of sterling silver wearable art. We will experiment with pine needles, water, cuttlefish bone, carved kiln bricks and casting sand. Once you have made several usable castings we will delve into design and execution of your designs as time permits.1 troy ounce of casting grains, 1 large cuttlefish bone, 1 bundle of South Carolina Long needle pine needles, one slice of kiln brick, instructions and consumables are included in the kit fee. You are welcome to bring in your own scrap to use. You can mix fine silver, metal clay and sterling silver. You cannot mix in Argentium Silver or silver plated. Feel free to bring in gold if you have it. All additional sterling silver and stones for fabrication will be provided by the instructor at fair market value.

Kim St. Jean
Kim St. Jean is an award-winning instructor, author, and jewelry designer. Following 10 years as a public school teacher, she has been teaching jewelry classes for over 20 years. Kim has been published in numerous magazines and books. She has appeared on several beading/craft television programs including Jewelry TV and Beads Baubles & Jewels. Kim also has written 3 books and has over 30 instructional DVD’s and on-line courses available. Predominantly at www.wirejewelry.com Kim’s home base is in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she and her husband, Norm, own Studio St. Jean. Kim, Norm, and their son Chase spend much of the year traveling across the country teaching classes at bead shows, jewelry schools, guilds, clubs, studios, and stores.
