GLASS FUSING III: SCULPTURE AND 3-D DESIGN

INSTRUCTOR: MARGO ANDERSON

Let’s kick it up a notch!  Glass Fusing III is for students with prior glass fusing experience!

Using all forms of fusible glass; sheet, stringers, rods, frit, powder, confetti, opaque, transparent we will create some unique fused pieces, combining familiar techniques and some new ones!  Students will control and monitor the manual kiln(s) they are using, as well as set-up the programmable kilns and learn to adjust the firing schedules accordingly.  Finish your glass art pieces with cold-working and any final polishing your projects may need. Some items made will be components for utilizing in class and any future projects for you.

Some techniques taught are:

            Wave Sculpture Design

            Coral Strip Bowl/Tray

            Pattern Bars & multiple uses

            Bo-ho Designed Panel

            Modified Tapestry Designs

            Constructing Display Stands

            Creating with fiber paper

Should you have your own tools, you are welcome to bring them, however tools are provided for use in all projects. All projects made in this class will use Bullseye COE 90 glass. DO NOT bring any glass to class!

Specific projects will be demonstrated for you to create, choosing your preferred glass colors; however, if you would like to duplicate anyone of them, additional project kits, glass packets will be available for purchase.

Class is limited to four (4) students.
