SILVER II: TOOL MAKING
INSTRUCTOR: CHUCK BRUCE
This class will focus off constructing basic or repurposing tools for silversmithing out of tool steel and brass. Scribes (2), riveting hammer, burnisher, prong pusher, graver and forming/stamping punches are the projects that will be done along with repurposing one or 2 old hammers and bringing them to a mirror polish. Personalizing your tools will also be addressed as well as form & function. The importance of tool steel, shaping annealing and tempering, transfer contamination, and maintenance will be covered. The class fee includes the above-listed projects. Other materials will be available for purchase depending on the projects chosen. Students will need to bring one or two old hammers to repurpose.
