Silver 1.5 Open Studio Design Challenge- Valerie Lamott
Class | Available
SILVER/WIRE 1.5: OPEN STUDIO: DESIGN CHALLENGE
INSTRUCTOR: VALERIE LAMOTT
Think outside the project! You will design and make one piece of jewelry each day. The challenge: each day's piece must incorporate the object given to you that morning. It could be a cabochon or a lampwork bead or a resin gummy bear. Who knows?
Class fee includes each day's mystery object. Students are required to provide silver/copper/brass for construction. Some will also be available at market prices if needed.
As this is an open studio course, no official instruction will be given, however, as this is also a fun, collaborative environment, we will all learn tons of tips and tricks from each other and demos on various methods are bound to happen.
Class Fee: $150
Prerequisites: ability to work independently. This class will be held in a silversmithing studio, however, wire wrappers/weavers are welcome.
Est materials cost: $0
Valerie Lamott
After spending all day destroying things as a Quality Engineer, Valerie began metalsmithing classes in the evening to focus more on creating things. In 2013 she moved to South Carolina and transitioned into creating jewelry full time. Her work can be found in galleries in the South and Midwest and at many art shows. Often inspired by nature and travel, Valerie's work uses a variety of techniques-piercings, etching, stone setting, enameling, chasing, casting, etc. Valerie is most interested in the process of how things are made and enjoys the challenge of making a vision a reality.
