SILVER I: OPEN STUDIO SILVER FABRICATION FOR BEGINNERS
INSTRUCTOR: VALERIE LAMOTT
This is an open studio with guidance. A collaborative environment to work on your own projects with input from myself and other students. If you're not sure how to finish a project or where to even start with an idea, this is the open studio for you.
As this is an open studio, there will be no official instruction. However, as a metalsmith for 15 years and an engineer even longer, I am more than happy to sit and help you come up with a construction plan for your ideas.
Bring all the metal you want and I will have some silver, copper, and brass available at current market prices if you need a little something to finish a project.
Class fee: $150
Est. Material Fee: $0
Prerequisites: Any experience with silversmithing.
Valerie Lamott
After spending all day destroying things as a Quality Engineer, Valerie began metalsmithing classes in the evening to focus more on creating things. In 2013 she moved to South Carolina and transitioned into creating jewelry full time. Her work can be found in galleries in the South and Midwest and at many art shows. Often inspired by nature and travel, Valerie's work uses a variety of techniques-piercings, etching, stone setting, enameling, chasing, casting, etc. Valerie is most interested in the process of how things are made and enjoys the challenge of making a vision a reality.
