SILVER III: TUFA CASTING WEEKEND CLASS
INSTRUCTOR: VICKIE PRILLAMAN
What is Tufa? How do you cast with it? Attend this class and find out. This is a two-day condensed class of the week long class. You will carve a mold into your Tufa and cast it. You may or may not be able to completely finish a piece. If you are taking the previous week long class and want to extend your time for two more days, you are welcome to take this additional class. Students will first learn how to work safely with the Tufa and then how to carve their designs into the Tufa stone, using a basic flat spatula, a fork, and other items found to make textures in the Tufa, how fun to find different items you can carve with! No special tools required. We will discuss what to do with the finished castings. They can be made either into a finished piece on its own or combine parts to create a larger piece. They can also be used as overlays. Students will learn the basics of how to get a successful casting by using sterling silver. This class will be held partially outside with some sharing of torches and crucibles. The class fee covers handouts and consumables and one piece of Tufa and the silver to cast one piece for the class. I will send out information to registered students where they may purchase the Tufa, or you can buy from me. A tools list be sent to registered students in advance. If you have any questions, please call Vickie at 770-265-7879.
