SILVER II: CHAIN II
INSTRUCTOR: DEB BAW
In this class you will learn the art of making loops or jump rings in different sizes. You will learn how to coil and cut the wire into specific sized loops that can be forged or weaved into different patterns of chain. There will be multiple patterns to choose from with an emphasis on beginner to intermediate level chains. Some patterns will require joining with a torch, so the ability to use a torch is needed. Completion of 6 - 8 chains is our goal for this class. We will be using Sterling Silver for our projects which I will have available in different gauges. Clasps can be made or can be purchased from the instructor. Kits will also be available for purchase. William Holland supplies some tools, but I recommend that you purchase or bring 2 pairs of chain nose pliers. I also recommend you bring an OptiVisor or similar magnifying lens. Class Fees cover printed materials, solder, flux, saw blades and some copper wire for practice. I will have O ring or Snap ring pliers available for use on specific chain projects. The instructor will supply wire in different gauges depending on the project. Material cost depends on projects and gauges of metal selected. We will have a fun yet challenging experience with chain.
