MICHAEL MARX

Kinetic Fish Workshop: The Undersea World of Michael J. Marx
(Sunday – Tuesday)

Join me as we explore the depths of our creativity below the waves. This advanced skills workshop will teach you how to make a fully finished, moving fish pendant of your very own, using PMC Flex. We will design and construct our pieces using the wet/dry method, using multiple textures, hollow form construction, coil embellishments and our own imaginations.

Dive deep and join us on an adventure!

Awesome Owls: Having a Hoot with Metal Clay!
(Wednesday – Friday)

Owls are a symbol of wisdom and knowledge. In this two-day class, we will be making owl pendants using fine silver metal clay. We will start off by making a hollow-form textured base, then, make the main facial details and embellishments. Next, we’ll explore expressions using different methods of creating eyes and the added details of eyebrows. We will further embellish them with more layered textures, feet, and a hidden bail. Amazing results are possible and the outcomes are limitless. This class is good for advanced beginners or experienced metal clay artists.

Marx, Michael

I have been a sculptor and artis as long as I can remember. My childhood gifts were art supplies as often as they were toys or books. I was born in Massachusetts in 1969 and lived there for 18 years, before moving to California in 1987. After 33 years in the Bay Area, I relocated to South Carolina in 2020, where I currently reside. In the beginning, I sculpted in FIMO, a polymer clay, and this honed my ability to transform my visions into 3-D images. In 2000, I took my first PMC (precious metal clay) class and was hooked. PMC’s affinity for texture, flexibility of form, and choices of finishing techniques make it ideal for me as an artist. The combinations of fine detail, high texture and varied forms are not easily achieved using traditional methods of casting and fabrication. I am passionate about my chosen medium and want to show that it is fine art and not just craft. https://unsaneart.com/
