SILVER I.5: PRONGS WITH CABOCHONS, HINGES, & MORE
INSTRUCTOR: BEVERLY FOX
One of the greatest skills I ever learned is how to bend wire to conform to whatever you want it to. I learned this many years ago when working in a dental lab making retainer wires. That’s right, I bent the wires that became retainers after the braces came off. I never realized this skill would serve me so well in jewelry designing later in life. This setting technique reveals the beauty of the back of your stone and these settings are easily hinged or soldered together. They also can be textured in many ways. This is a very fun way to create it because you can use as many cabs as you want in your design. I will be talking a bit about design, also. You will learn to use the Smith Little Torch if you haven’t yet. The class fee covers the use of a comprehensive tool kit I put together, an 8-page handout that all my students receive and a step-by-step page for each project. The materials fee is base fee. I will have silver, cabochons, and accent stones for sale.
