SILVER II

INSTRUCTOR: KIM ST. JEAN

This class is for students who are comfortable with fundamental silversmithing techniques and would like to go beyond the basics. Student projects will include an open back pendant, gallery wire bezels and a project with multiple stone settings. Decorative bails, fabrication and sweat soldering embellishments will also be learned. Honing, sawing and piercing skills will be emphasized. After the projects are completed, students will be encouraged to utilize these new skills to create a piece of their own design with instructor & #39’s guidance. This will be a hands-on class. Optivisors are recommended for detailed work. Instructor will provide all sterling and stones used in this class at fair market value. No projects are included in the class fee due to the unpredictable, ever fluctuating price of silver. All consumable, education materials and the use of specialized tools for the course are included in the Class Fee. Please have long hair tied back. Closed toe shoes are mandatory for safety reasons. Feel free to bring your own tools. This will be a fun and stress-free class where students will be encouraged to use new techniques to produce unique pieces of their own design.
