GLASS FUSING I: WINDCHIME / WALL HANGING

INSTRUCTOR: CAROL ZODROW

This class will focus on the basics of kiln firing glass. We will learn safety procedures, how to cut glass and the physical properties of how glass reacts to different temperatures in the kiln. We will cover the basics of how to prepare a project for firing and will use a variety of elements (sheet glass, frit, confetti, stringers, millefiori, ribbons, and dichroic glass) to create our projects. You will learn a variety of techniques (decals, stencils, reactions etc.) to create a windchime/wall hanging. You will cast some small elements and create frit balls that can be used to decorate this large project. We will also be making dichroic pieces that may be cut and coldworked.

Class Fee: $25 covers the use of molds, tools and supplies (kiln paper, adhesives, cleaners etc.).

Est Materials Fee:  $175 covers the cost of all glass supplies for class projects. Additional glass items will be available for purchase.

Prerequisite: None
