GLASS FUSING I: JEWELRY

INSTRUCTOR: CAROL ZODROW

This class will focus on the basics of kiln firing glass. We will learn safety procedures, how to cut glass and the physical properties of how glass reacts to different temperatures in the kiln. We will cover the basics of how to prepare a project for firing and will use a variety of elements (sheet glass, frit, confetti, stringers, millefiori, ribbons, and dichroic glass) to create our projects. You will learn a variety of techniques (decals, stencils, etching etc.) to create multiple jewelry size pieces. You will cast some small elements and create frit balls that will be used to decorate larger projects. We will be making a 2”x4” stacked dichroic bar that can be cut and coldworked.

Class Fee:  $25 covers the use of molds, tools, and supplies (kiln paper, adhesives, cleaners etc.).

Est Materials Fee: $175 covers the cost of all glass supplies for class projects. Additional glass items will be available for purchase.

Prerequisite: None
