MICRO MOSAIC JEWELRY
INSTRUCTOR: KASKA FIROR
In this workshop students will learn how to use stained glass, ceramic tiles, beads, and tiny objects to create small mosaics. We will make rings, earrings, bracelets, and pendants. Students will practice skills for cutting glass and ceramic tiles, then explore techniques for adhering the tiles, and grouting. We will use pre-made jewelry mosaic frames to learn the techniques, then students will have the option to design and make their own frame(s). Basic soldering will also be covered in this class. Depending on the individual progress you can expect to make 6-10 projects. The class fee covers all the handouts, up to 8 pre-made frames (lots to choose from), all glass, tiles, and beads, materials and supplies to make one copper or brass frame (upgrade to silver will be available), as well as the consumables, such as use of torches, liver to sulfur, steel wool, etc. The instructor will contact students a few weeks before class with a list of required tools.
