CABOCHONS I

INSTRUCTOR: RICK MARSHALL

Introduction to Cabochons is designed to teach you the basics of creating a beautiful cabochon from a slab of rock!  You will learn slab selection, the use of water, motion, touch, inspection, safety, and patience! To assist you I have created a flip chart you can refer to at any time to gauge your progress. I also have a display showing the steps of the cabbing process to which you can compare your cabochon in every stage. If you want to learn cabbing in a clear and concise method, this is the class for you. The class fee includes slabs, a straight edge, super glue, marker, scribe, pen, notepad, and instructor-provided materials for the class. You may bring your own slabs, plus I will have slabs available for purchase.

Class Fee: $50

Est. Materials Fee: $0-40

Consumables Fee: $15 (added to WH account)

CABOCHONS I.5

There will be no round, square, oval, or rectangular cabochons produced in this class unless they have beautiful druzies or live edges! You will be asked to use your imagination and be creative. You will work with unique cabbing material such as live edges, druzies, coral, kyanite blades, crinoid stems, beads, and geodes to produce unusual cabochons. You will also work with stabilized material and learn the process of stabilization so you can work with materials you may have been afraid to work with in the past. You will learn techniques to clean druzies and live edges. This will be a fun and informative class. Bring your own materials and I will have materials available at reasonable prices.
