INTARSIA I

INSTRUCTOR: KEITH HARRIGILL

We will be learning to cut and shape small pieces of colorful or otherwise interesting rocks and gluing them together to form intricate scenic and/or geometric patterns. This is a basic class. We will be using flat laps and Intarsia grinders (not faceting machines). Materials are provided but feel free to bring some of your own if you like. A start-up kit of basic supplies will be provided for a nominal cost. The overall costs for the week will depend upon how many slabs and which type of material you purchase. Overall costs for the week will be less if you have your own material.

Consumables Fee: $15 (added to WH tuition)

Prerequisites: Cabochons I

Additional Class Offerings:

Harrigill, Keith

Keith is a voracious student of lapidary arts, and works in cabochons, intarsia, inlay, carving, and faceting with an emphasis on producing work suitable for setting into jewelry. He has been attending classes at William Holland since 2022 but has really been a lifelong learner with experience in glass blowing and fusing, photography, classical guitar, and culinary arts. His current interests are in concave faceting and fantasy cutting, as well as performing intarsia with and without a faceting machine. Keith and his metalsmithing wife, Elena, team up to produce high-flying, one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art.
