EXPLORING THE DOLL - POLYMER CLAY & METAL

"Exploring Wall Dolls" with polymer, metals and molds - instructor Barbara A. McGuire
Learn a focused skill set including polymer BB Mokume, simple polymer canes, reduction molding and
base metal etching. Class will focus on concepts of emphasis, scale and proportion in the overall design
of your wall doll. Use your visual eye to create statement wall art. All skill levels welcome, no
prerequisite.
Materials list for project (included in fee) Students are welcome to bring personal supplies to create
additional works. Molds, and textures are provided.
Polymer clay (white, black, translucent, pearl), Alcohol inks, acrylic paint – burnt umber, 24 gauge sheet
metal, etching solution, rubber texture patterns (provided), silicone cast for (face) molds, gloves, masks,
tools, metal shears, etc.

Barbara McGuire
Barbara McGuire is an award-winning author and artist known for her work in polymer clay. Her signature style is recognized in her colorful Mokume Gane art to wear and expressive caned faces. Barbara lives near Asheville, NC, and teaches locally, privately by appointment and online classes via Zoom.
