We are over the moon to welcome Sarah Anderson for a 2-day workshop as part of her traveling Sgraffito tour! Dive deep into the details of Sgraffito in this two-day class. Sarah will combine the use of two-dimensional imagery onto three-dimensional surfaces. Learn new ways to incorporate theses elements together with the use of color, texture, and movement. Explore surface design techniques, how to use negative and positive space to create illusions of depth, working with the clay at various stages, underglaze tips, and more.

This class is appropriate for beginners and experienced potters alike. Participants are welcome to come prepared with their own leather hard pieces. White clay bodies tend to show contrast the best, but any color can work. Porcelain or grog-free clay, and cone 5/6 clay only please.

We will ask what clay body you are using to ensure that it won't turn into lava in our kilns, so call us if you're not sure what to buy!

Gather will also have clay tiles and leather hard vessels available for students to use (and keep!) during the workshop.

We will provide carving tools for use, but students are encouraged to bring any clearly labelled tools from home. Attendees will leave pieces for Gather to fire. All clay, firing fees and glazes are included in the workshop.

Work will be ready for pickup in 1-2 weeks
