The Stories We Carry

Workshop | Registration opens 12/2/2025 10:00 AM CST

Begin with a personal story or a quote you love and transform it into a piece of jewelry that tells the story. Bring your concepts along with photos, written material, or other things that would lend to the message. Learn the electro-etching process on silver or copper. Apply and fire waterslide decals on pre-enameled steel. Techniques will include sawing, soldering, cold connections, jump ring construction, and finishing. Metalsmith experience is helpful but not necessary.

  • All materials included.
Doremus, Sarah
Sarah Doremus

Sarah (Deer Isle, ME) maintains her own studio where her work runs the gambit from simple jewelry to wall pieces that have removable pieces of wearable art. Using anything from precious metals to dump finds, and applying tradition metalsmithing and woodworking techniques, she makes visual homages poking fun at our collective angst or calling the emperor out for being naked.

Farr, Maureen
Maureen Farr

Maureen (Deer Isle, ME) creates one-of-a-kind and small production lines of rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings using a variety of techniques, including etching, reticulation on silver or mild steel, and enamels on copper. Her recent work includes turquoise, opals, and other gemstones with high karat gold accents and bezels. She has taught in her own studio and been a studio assistant for several instructors at Haystack and Penland schools.
