F25-47 - Who's Conscious? Challenges and Approaches for Detecting Consciousness in Others

Zoom | Registration opens 9/2/2025 9:00 AM

How can we know if other beings are conscious? From other humans, non-human animals, and artificial intelligence to patients in altered states of awareness, this course examines the cutting edge scientific approaches for inferring consciousness in others, including the use of "mind reading" neuroimaging methods. This course also explores the serious consequences of misjudging consciousness - whether overlooking
conscious awareness or falsely attributing it.
