S25-49 The Neuroscience and Ethics of AI

Zoom | Registration opens 3/3/2025 9:00 AM

This Zoom course will be recorded.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has made a transformative entry into our daily lives, revolutionizing everything from online searches to message drafting. In neuroscience, AI is emerging as a powerful tool to study the brain, unlocking new ways to understand its complexity. At the same time, AI raises profound questions, such as whether it could one day, if it hasn't already, achieve the ability to experience feelings and sensations, and to have some cognitive abilities. We'll also examine the ethical dilemmas that might arise. This introductory course explores the relationship between AI and modern neuroscience research, delving into its applications, pressing concerns, and the ethical challenges that accompany this technological leap in understanding the nervous system.
