This three-session course will survey the long and complicated history of antisemitism from its earliest expressions in Europe to its modern manifestations. More than 10 centuries of Jewish-Christian interaction in Europe, the position of the Roman Catholic Church and of various governments as well as popular attitudes toward Jews will be considered in the light of events and developments.

Patricia Behre, PHD, is an Associate Professor of History at Fairfield University, currently serving as chair of the History Department. A specialist in Early Modern French History and especially Jewish-Christian relations, she is the author of One King, One Law, Three Faiths: Religion and the Rise of Absolutism in /Seventeenth Century Metz.
