Born on Aug. 2, 1924, James Baldwin produced an extensive body of work which includes essays, speeches, plays, poetry, short stories, and novels. In those works, he fearlessly tackles racial and social issues and offers profound insights into the Black American experience in the 20th Century. In this course, we will review, discuss and critique several of Baldwin's essays and short stories and examine what those works have to say about the life of Black Americans.
