This class will examine the history leading up to the Wannsee Conference and its consequences for the organization of the Holocaust. This will help to better understand the administrative mechanism used by the Nazi administration to implement a complex and multi-faceted process of mass murder. It also examines Hitler’s role: Was he driving events or do we look at a process of cumulative radicalization culminating in mass murder?
Hans-Christian Jasch
Dr. Hans-Christian Jasch is a lawyer and legal historian who earned his JD with an award-winning study of the state-secretary of the Reich‘s Ministry of Interior, Wilhelm Stuckart, and his role in Nazi-"Jewish Policy“ leading to the Holocaust. From 2014-2020, Dr. Jasch was the executive director of the House of the Wannsee Conference Memorial. He now works as a German Federal civil servant on matters of public security and continues to publish in the field of Holocaust research and aftermath studies.
