2025 marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Mallord William Turner, the widely admired and possibly the most influential British artist. The remarkable exhibition will showcase the Yale Center for British Art’s rich holdings of Turner’s works. This is a two-session course.
Session One - Serena Guerrette, docent at the YCBA, will take you through the paintings section of the exhibition using the close-looking approach to enhance observation.
Session Two - James Vanderberg, educator, will present an in-depth view of the outstanding works on paper from the YCBA’s collection that will be on view in the exhibition.
Serena Guerrrette
For over 40 years, Serena Guerrette has been a docent, trained and served on the Docent Council at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, reaching the position of President of the Council. Currently, she serves as a docent at the Yale Center for British Art. Ms Guerrette retired from the YCBA’s Research and Education Department in 2013.
