Destiny offers a fresh, profound vision on changes needed in our perspective and law-based world economic order. Since we are a small, global community, we now require a global ethic based on the common good, and a single Commonwealth of Earth to solve the large problems that no single nation or group of nations can master, one that honors our common humanity while celebrating our differences. It is only when we learn to lift everyone up and not tear everyone down that our community truly thrives.
Bob McCan’s new book, Destiny, focuses on this topic and offers ways to help create the Commonwealth of Earth. His unique background and accomplishments led him to focus on this subject. He was personally acquainted with Martin Luther King Sr. and Martin Luther King Jr. He was a Baptist minister when he was active in the civil rights movement and had to resign from his church because of his support of Dr. King. “I then decided to spend my life as a peacemaker.”
Bob founded and served as President of Dag Hammarskjold College and held four appointments in the federal government in the offices of Economic Development and Education, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and the Agency for International Development.
On his 100th birthday, he was honored by the U.S. Institute of Peace and recognized for his work building support for the vision of an Institute of Peace over a period of seven years before it was finally established by Congress.
