The ACLS Skills checkoff\Heartcode course is a hybrid class format. Student completes the ACLS Heartcode online with the learning modules, SIMS and the online test, and then attends a classroom session for the hands-on components.
ACLS is an advanced course that builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-qualify CPR, and high performance team dynamics.
The course covers
- Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and user of an AED
- Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
- Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
- Airway management
- Related pharmacology
- Management of ACS and stroke
- Effective communication as a team member and leader of a resuscitation team
Completion of the ACLS Heartcode Online is required prior to the in classroom portion.
