The PALS Skills checkoff\Heartcode course is a hybrid class format. Student completes the PALS Heartcode online with the learning modules, SIMS and the online test, and then attends a classroom session for the hands-on components.

The course covers
The PALS course aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shot, and cardiopulmonary arrest.

  • Perform high-quality CPR 
  • Differentiate between patients who do and do not require immediate intervention
  • Recognize cardiopulmonary arrest early 
  • Apply Team Dynamics
  • Differentiate between respiratory destress and failure
  • Perform early interventions for respiratory distress and failure
  • Differentiate between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock
  • Perform early interventions for the treatment of shock
  • Differentiate between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias
  • Describe clinical characteristics of  instability in patients with arrhythmias
  • Implement post-cardiac arrest management
Completion of the PALS Heartcode Online is required prior to the in classroom portion.

  • PALS Heartcode Online
    • Registration in this class is for the hands-on portion only. Students must complete the ACLS Heartcode online prior to the classroom session. 
      BLS
      • BLS recertification is offered at this class. To renew your BLS, select BLS as an additional item during your registration (in the books section of the registration process). Your instructor will review the infant portion of BLS along with the adult portion that is already included in the ACLS curriculum. You will also need to complete the BLS Heartcode online.
    • The course is available to all students.
      • Students whose certification has expired
      • Students who are taking PALS for the first time
      • Students who prefer hybrid learning Format
      • Students who have a non AHA PALS Provider certification. 
      Successful students receive an AHA eCertification valid for two years. The certification will be issued to the email you use to register for the class.
    • The PALS Heartcode Online is required to be completed by each student. 
      For students selecting to include BLS, the BLS Heartcode Online is required to be completed by each student.


      The BLS and PALS Heartcode Online can be ordered from EdCor or direct from the distributor. Both options will be available to you within the additional items section upon selecting to register for the class.
