Class Description: Just be who you wanna be! Inspired by themes of pride for your true identity, students create a Cabaret showcase featuring songs, scenes, and choreography from musicals like Kinky Boots, The Prom, RENT, and more! Every student will gain vocal skills, learn choreography, and expand their knowledge of musical theater!
Program Type: In our new “Cabaret Series,” students will learn the basics of musical theater through a musical revue structure. The program culminates in a final sharing in the Starlight Theater!
Students will:
- Build acting, performance, & theater skills
- Participate in a collaborative theater-making process
- Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community
- Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance
- Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes
Location Information: Madison Youth Arts, 1055 East Mifflin Street.
# of Students in Class: 25-30 students. Staffed by 2 professional Teaching Artists and 1 Teaching Assistant Intern.
Experience Expectations: We welcome students of all experience and ability levels to register, though this program is tailored for beginners.
