Class Description:  Explore showtunes, characters, and musicals that feature your favorite villains! Students will use the basics of acting for musical theater (body, voice and imagination) to learn songs based on the theme of the class, develop confidence, and work as an ensemble. Every student will gain vocal skills, learn light choreography, and expand their knowledge of musical theater! This class is for students who would like to try musical theater for the first time as well as students with some previous musical theater experience.

Program Type: In this process based program, students will: - Build acting, performance, & theater skills - Participate in a collaborative process - Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community - Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance - Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes.

Class Location Information: The program will take place at MYArts, 1055 East Mifflin Street, Madison. There is free street parking and also $2/hr parking at MYArts. There is a community space where families can wait while their student is in class.

First Day Information: There will be an optional, informal opportunity to learn more about the programs on Day 1.

# of Students in Class: 13-15 students. There is 1 professional teaching artist.

  • Final Sharing: May 13, 2023 at MYArts Center. Family and friends are welcome! COVID policies: At this time, CTM’s mask wearing / social distancing policies are TBD. We will be following CDC guidelines as well the policies of MYArts.
