Class Description: Discover songs and characters from Broadway's newest shows! Use the basics of acting for musical theater (body, voice, and imagination) to learn songs, develop confidence, and work as an ensemble. Gain vocal skills, learn light choreography, and expand your knowledge of musical theater.
Program Type: In this process based program, students will:
- Build acting, performance, & theater skills - Participate in a collaborative process - Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community - Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance - Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes
Class Location Information: The program will take place at MYArts, 1055 East Mifflin Street, Madison. There is free street parking and also $2/hr parking at MYArts. There is a community space where families can wait while their student is in class.
First Day Information: On the first day of the program, there will be a brief orientation for parents.
# of Students in Class: 13-15 students. There is 1 professional teaching artist.
Experience Expectations: This class is for students who would like to try musical theater for the first time as well as the students with some previous musical theater experience.
Final Sharing: Tuesday, March 14 at MYArts Center. Family and friends are welcome!
