Class Description: Learn basic costume design and construction techniques through the lens of a different play each day! This project-based program will give you the opportunity to explore costume design through hands on learning, no sewing machine needed!
Students will:
- Build artistic research, & costume design skills
- Participate in a collaborative theater-making process based on the theme of the class
- Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community
- Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance
- Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes
Location Information: The entire program will take place at Madison Youth Arts, 1055 East Mifflin Street.
# of Students in Class: 23 students. There are 2 professional teaching artists and 1 Teaching Assistant Interns.
Experience Expectations: We welcome students of all experience and ability levels to register though this program is tailored for beginners.
Program Type: This one week program invites students to learn costume design and construction skills. The program culminates in a sharing for families.
