Class Description: Celebrate what makes your neighborhood special and learn about other neighborhoods through art, storytelling, movement and music. This Creative Drama class is all about community!
Students will:
- Build acting, performance, & theater skills
- Participate in a collaborative theater-making process based on the theme of the class
- Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community
- Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance
- Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes
Location Information: The entire program will take place at Madison Youth Arts, 1055 East Mifflin Street.
# of Students in Class: 20 students. There are 2 professional teaching artists and 1 Teaching Assistant Interns.
Experience Expectations: We welcome students of all experience and ability levels to register though this program is tailored for beginners.
Program Type: This one week program invites students to learn acting, improvisation and storytelling skills. The program culminates in a sharing for families.
Typical Daily Schedule:
8:15–8:30 Check In
8:30–9:00 Warm ups & Challenges
9:00–10:00 Workshop (acting, music, art)
10:00-10:15 Snack – We’re a nut free camp
10:15–11:15 Workshop (acting, music, art)
11:15–11:45 Ensemble Building
11:45-12:00 Clean Up/Acknowledgements
12:00 Dismissal
Final Class Sharing: Friday, August 12 @ 11:30am at MYArts.
