Class Description: Spend 4 days on a fantastical adventure into the world of PL Travers’ most beloved book! Young performers will use their voice, movement, and imagination (the actor's toolkit) to act out the story for family and friends on the final day of the program!
Program Type: In this process based program, students will:
- Build acting, performance, & theater skills
- Participate in a collaborative process
- Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community
- Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance
- Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes
Class Location Information: Class will be held at the MYArts center (1055 E. Mifflin St). There will be a brief orientation for parents at the beginning of the day.
# of Students in Class: 15-20 students. There will be 1 professional teaching artist.
Experience Expectations: This class is open to students of all experience levels.
Typical Daily Schedule:
9-9:15am – Warm Ups
9:15-10:15am – Ensemble Exercises related to “Mary Poppins”
10:15-10:30am – Snack
10:30am-12pm – Character Study, World Creation, etc.
12-1pm – Lunch / Refocusing Activity
1-2:45pm – Art Project, Story Creation, Rehearsal
2:45-3pm – Cool down, end of day check in
