Class Description: Performers will think fast, take risks and work as part of an ensemble. Using short form and long form improvisation, students will develop characters, scenes, and situations through listening and responding in the moment, remaining open to the suggestions and ideas of others, and pulling comedy from the world around them.
Program Type: In this process based program, students will: - Build acting, performance, & theater skills - Participate in a collaborative process - Gain confidence, empathy, & a sense of community - Practice communication, flexibility, focus, & perseverance - Take risks in a supportive environment & learn from mistakes.
Class Location Information: The program will take place at MYArts, 1055 East Mifflin Street, Madison. There is free street parking and also $2/hr parking at MYArts. There is a community space where families can wait while their student is in class.
First Day Information: There will be an optional, informal opportunity to learn more about the programs on Day 1.
# of Students in Class: 13-15 students. There is 1 professional teaching artist.
Experience Expectations: Previous theater experience is recommended, but beginners are welcome.
