Book Description: Carmela spends her birthday exploring her neighborhood with her brother. When she wants to make a wish on a dandelion, she finds hope in the most unexpected places.
Program Type: On school vacation days, bring your favorite stories to the stage through playmaking. Geared for students grades K-3, this day long program incorporates theater games, storytelling, and character building activities. At the end of the day, students will share their version of the story with family and friends.
Class Location Information: The program will take place at MYArts, 1055 East Mifflin Street, Madison. There is free street parking and also $2/hr parking at MYArts. There is a community space where families can wait while their student is in class.
# of Students in Class: 15-20 students. There will be 2 professional teaching artists.
Experience Expectations: This class is open to students of all experience levels.
COVID policies: At this time, CTM’s mask wearing / social distancing policies are TBD. We will be following CDC guidelines as well the policies of MYArts.
Typical Daily Schedule:
9-9:15am – Orientation
9:15-10:15am – Name Games, Ensemble Exercises
10:15-10:30am – Snack
10:30am-12pm – Read the story, explore characters & world of the book, etc.
12-1 – Lunch / Refocus Activities
1-2:30pm – Art Project, Story Creation, & Final Run through of Final Sharing
2:30-3pm – Final Sharing
Final Sharing: 2:30pm, same location as class.
